Awesome. Open a text file with something like this.

_ task 1

_ task 2

Then go to line :1 and type gg in interactive mode. It should replace the underscore with an x, go to the end of the line and add a time stamp, and then go down one line (which makes it easy to mark off multiple at a time).

After you do that, type gt in interactive mode. That will open a new line that starts with _.

I find that I often type these manually. But it can be helpful.

Also, someone pointed out to me that I’m overriding the natural use for gg which is to go to the top of the file. But I always got there by typing the line number (:1), so overriding this doesn’t matter to me. If it matters to you give the map macro a different keyboard combo.
