I absolutely disagree with this framing. It's not true. There is no war between these types of authors and I think that I've been very clear about certain changes impacting just the first group.

You're calling it self-help here but I think that term doesn't acknowledge how many advice/teaching/self-improvement categories we have.

For example, programming, design, entrepreneurship, management and data science should all be in group #1. Several of those categories are bigger here by readership than self-help.

The things that make #1 better don't make #2 better and so we won't apply them there. Poets, fiction writers, opinion writers, personal essayists: readers want your stories and that means so do we.
