I think I'm right about what I'm about to say. I was surprised to learn that there are generally two types of Quaker meetings houses. One will reference a Christian god and the other will hide it behind euphemisms. For example, the Quaker Meeting House across the street from me in Brooklyn says things like "Please hold Joe in the light" and never gets closer than that to referencing God. That made it feel welcoming to my non-religious background and my partner's Jewish background. Of course, we aren't morning people and so we never made it past a few meetings.
