I think the best writing on Medium is better than the best writing on the NYTimes. People think I'm delusional to think that, but it makes sense to me. We can love journalism to the max, but at the end of the day, journalists and (usually) creators are researchers and are thus relying on other sources. Medium is lucky in that we have a lot of those sources deciding to write here directly. I've been in the NYTimes four times and although I could see how hard they tried, I never thought the story rang exactly true. Basically anyone with first hand expertise on a new story will tell you the same.
