I think you are talking about hypotheticals and there may be many plausible hypotheticals. But we're saying something based on a lot of personal experience running content businesses (as well as having a lot of peer relationships). The day to day experience of business and product decision making is very different when you think your paycheck comes from advertisers versus when you think it comes from your readers.
