Interesting. No, not throttling. We are looking for individual articles to boost. That's a switch in a number of ways, but in particular it's a focus on individual articles rather than individual authors.

I wrote about that on our blog and think we'll have an update shortly as the boost has recently gotten much stronger but we still need to release the author notification for when an article was boosted and expand the inputs (we get suggestions from the community). That's all coming and I expect it to be very transparent and a very big part of the experience here.

The feature flag is not related. It's old and not even related to an active experiment. But regardless, at the time it was about the opposite of a max limit, it was about setting a minimum to make sure most articles got seen by some strangers.

I highlighted the word organically because I'm not sure we are on the same page there. We control distribution to Medium readers who are strangers to you. You control distribution to followers, email subscribers, and anywhere else you might share your article. I wouldn't call the part we control organic traffic.
