It had become primarily algorithm based and that's why we took the notification down. Most reasonable articles were "curated" and then it was left up to our recommendation algorithm to find readers for it. So since most things were eligible for distribution the message stopped making sense. But this change didn't have anything to do with any change in page views. It was purely a removal of the message.

That said, we will make changes. They just aren't out yet. They will be announced on blog.medium.com
