Oof. I think transparency is actually going to look like bad news. For a long time we've known that we were over crediting authors with referrals. The majority of referrals that authors get don't meet the definition that we set at the beginning of the program. I know this is the opposite of what you are saying--that you are wanting to know why your referrals are going down. The program has essentially failed to meet it's goal which is to grow the pie for everyone. But, we've let it go on because this over crediting has been basically equal across all authors. So we looked at it as a way to pay authors more. I expect that we will sunset the crediting of new referrals soon and come at the same goal from a different direction.
TLDR; we aren't going to invest in making the referral system more transparent because it's broken in author's favor and likely going away.
