We do tell, it's just that people ask for the message delivered in a way that is impossible.

A) We put a lot of time into explaining, teaching, reiterating the guidelines and intent behind the partner program. We are stewards of our subscriber's money and we need to be good at how we deliver it. It is possible that a writer can be both making a positive contribution that is visible to the community and also breaking those guidelines in a way that siphons money to themselves or to a peer group beyond the guidelines of the program.

B) We are often in 1:1 conversations with the people who have been removed from the PP.

What we absolutely won't do is tell a third party (you) about an individual decision about some other writer. They muddy the waters by going public and claiming complete innocence. But our feeling is that's on them and that people who read them should know they aren't getting the complete picture.

Thanks for the write up. Yes, very small profit. That's still a big milestone for stability and proof that we are headed in the right direction but the money will end up just getting reinvested somehow, either to authors, for more staff, or for a rainy day.
