We think staying in business and deepening people's understanding of the world are the same thing. There are plenty of examples of businesses and industries that people pay for in order to get smarter. That's us. The savior narrative and any relative is only possible because the rest of the Internet is so bad at making people smarter right now. Otherwise, we'd just be doing the same thing we do now but with a more utilitarian story.

I bristle at your idea that we hide what we disagree with. We are enforcing a standard for discourse, not any particular opinion. I'm much more of the view that people who think their opinion is being hidden are actually just being lazy and should come at the same opinion again with more rigor. Of course, I don't have any indication that you are in that boat and what I'm saying often doesn't make any sense when applied to fiction.
